Nevertheless, their control remains challenging because of highly nonlinear and coupled dynamics, as well as strong sensitivity to external disturbances and modeling uncertainties. This talk presents recent advances in nonlinear control strategies that effectively address these challenges. In particular, we focus on finite-time and fixed-time stabilization techniques, primarily developed within the framework of terminal sliding mode control. These methods provide fast convergence with guaranteed settling times, exact tracking performance, and intrinsic robustness to disturbances\u2014capabilities that cannot be achieved with conventional linear feedback controllers. Moreover, we discuss the integration of these control schemes with fractional-order dynamics, offering additional tuning flexibility and improved performance. The theoretical developments are validated through real-time experiments, demonstrating robust stabilization of multirotor drones under significant uncertainties.<\/p><p><strong>Biography<\/strong>:<br \/>Moussa Labbadi is an Associate Professor (MCF) at Aix-Marseille University and a researcher at the Laboratoire d\u2019Informatique et Syst\u00e8mes (LIS). His research interests lie in control theory and its applications, with a particular focus on multistable systems, finite-time and fixed-time stability, accelerated convergence techniques, and the control and observation of systems governed by partial differential equations. His work finds applications in areas such as drones, robotics, and avionics. He has authored more than 100 scientific publications and has an h-index of 22. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering and is involved in the organization of major control conferences, including IFAC World Congress 2026 (Control Design) and the IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications (CCTA). He has held visiting research positions at INRIA Lille, the University of Birmingham, and the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, hosted by Denis Efimov, Sadegh Soudjani, and Rupak Majumdar.
